Self Description
EMD Records was founded in 1998 by Dominic Thurgood. It is an open group of musicians, composers and designers who share a common creative vision in the limitless possibilities of music and sound.

Dominic Thurgood (Leftblank / Phexioenesystems)
Dominic Thurgood is a composer and sound designer, and founder of The EMD. With a background in music, music technology and physics, he holds first class honours in music from the University of York.
Dominic's theatre work includes sound design for Thin Toes (Pleasance Theatre, WHen), Fanny and Faggot (Finborough Theatre, Trafalgar Studios and the English Speaking Theatre of Bruges, WHen/Fish Productions), Torn (Arcola Theatre, Identity Theatre Company), The Lady's Not for Burning (Finborough Theatre, doublethink) and Taking the Blood of Butterflies (Oval House Theatre, WHen)
Dominic also works as an audio engineer and editor. Recent projects include editing Past Masters, a series of podcasts for the National Archives and the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology's audio-guide Secrets of the Petrie Collection
Recent compositional work include Én Skikk, Én Sorg (for small ensemble), 'architectural acousmatic' album FP/Arc Halv (under his Leftblank pseudonymn) and the forthcoming audio-visual DVD Turnstile with Andrew Ormerod and Jack Sullivan.
Vito Pagliarulo (Oolite)
Oolite is Vito Pagliarulo, from Italy, a project which he describes as:
"musical and visual... playing experimental sounds made with everything useful to explain the world inside the mind. To put in music the impressions and the oneiric shadows of every thought. Trying to walk around and find out a new sound. Mixing sounds, music, emotions... impressions... all-together in a musical line that could be useful to travel without moving".
The Oolite project began in the summer of 2005. After having played rock, funk and fusion music for years, Vito initiated a brand new musical experimental electro-acoustic experience. The project was conceived as a “one-man-band” and their first album, Wax-Work, is available on EMD Records.
